Olympian video games: Track and Field

Summer 2008, Beijing celebrates the Olympic games, Usain Bolt and Michael Pelphs are doing the delights of the lovers of the sport. While the fans of the video games we take a lot of time enjoying qualifications that try to recreate the emotion of the Olympiads. 25 years ago of the first delivery for arcade of Track and Field.

The game was a big success what I provoke in multitude of domestic versions of doubtful quality for systems as Spectrum. Nevertheless the version for NES known as Track and Field II (although in fact it was the quarter) was a big success in sales and public. This title was thrown in 1988 in Japan with the name of Track and Field in Seoul and later Barcelona would be relaunched by Tecmo for Europe in the year 1992 with the name of Track and Field in.

As innovation piece of news was included as Taekwondo, Shot with Arch or Struggle (only for two players). The game was including several ways of game, training, championship or multiplayer. Also we could choose our favorite country (we feel it but Spain is not a favorite country).

Konami did not extract another important game of this series again up to the games of Atlanta in 1996, when it threw International Track and Field that was provided with the innovation of being the first game of the series with graphs in 3D.

Curiously in 1998 owing to the Nagano winter games, for the first and only time Konami it  would have the official license of the COI, with what it realized a delivery based on sports inveranles (It is curious to emphasize that Midway also had the license and reazlió a game based exclusively on the Olympian tournament of Hockey)

Owing to Sidney's games in the year 2000, they turned to aprecer new deliveries for consoles as Nintendo 64, Playstation 2 or Dreamcast, with big variety of tests (with spectacular swimming tests) and a big piqué multiplayer that they were offering the new consoles.

We would not see again to this series until this year 2008 with New International Track and Field in which he escapes of the realism to present the big stars of Konami (included Snake) disputing an Olympian tournament.

Curiosities

If in Triple jump you do your jumps of the same distance, a man with a key will appear in the track to reward you with 1000 points.

In the versus of 100 smooth meters if two players you do the same time you will take 1000 points extra

On the screen of beginning of the version of NES there sounds the melody of Cars of Fire
